Letter from the Recruitment Chair
Hello and welcome to the formal recruitment process here at the University of Nebraska Lincoln! My name is Kelsey Martinez, and I am Kappa Kappa Gamma’s recruitment chair. I am so excited to welcome each of you to an experience that will impact you life forever. As you are settling into the new and unfamiliar setting of a University, you may be feeling a rush of emotions. Possibly nervousness, anticipation, and hopefully lots excitement. As you go through the recruitment process, make sure you give yourself a moment to take a breath and relax. Take it all in, have fun, and most importantly be yourself. This week is filled with new and fun experiences, and can make such a positive impact on your time here at UNL. Through joining a sorority you will find a strong sense of community, and develop lifelong friendships with women from all over. During the formal recruitment process you will have the amazing opportunity to meet and connect with women from each of UNL’s unique chapters. This is how I found my home at Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Being a member of Kappa has impacted me in ways I could have never imagined. Kappa has brought so much joy, love, and support to my life. I have honestly found a “home away from home” that has made all of the (sometimes scary) new transitions and experiences college brings so much easier. Kappa has led me to women that help me step outside of my box, try new things, and have faith in me, which has allowed me to then have faith in myself. Through my past three years as a Kappa, I have found that many of my sisters share my same values of academic success. They support me in every way, and always encourage me to be my best self, inside and outside of the classroom.
UNL, the recruitment process, and Kappa have truly given me memories and relationships I will hold for the rest of my life. I could not imagine a college experience as fun and rewarding as the one I have gained here at Kappa. This sorority has helped myself and my sisters grow closer and as individuals. We have learned from each other, inspired one another, comforted, and celebrated in each other successes. I have realized through all of this that Kappa truly is a better way to stumble through life.
My hope for each of you is that, through this process you will find yourself in your “home away from home”. From all of us here at Kappa Kappa Gamma, we are so excited to meet you in August! Remember have fun and get ready for an experience of a lifetime! (:
