Elections

The Tampa Bay Alumnae Chapter holds officer elections every 2 years for the following offices: 

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Permanent Secretary
  • Editor

Our committee chairs (Philanthropy Chair, IRD Chair, Epsilon Pi Chair, Collegiate Liaison, Junior Circle Chair, , and our Three Panhellenic Representatives to the local Panhellenic Associations) are appointed positions.   

A brief summary of elected positions and their responsibilities are as follows:

President:  Presides over all general and Board meetings, serves as a de facto member of all standing committees, is the point of contact for the chapter with IHQ and members of the Volunteer Service Team, keeps in touch with our Regional Alumnae Coordinator, follows the procedures set forth in the chapter bylaws, Alumnae Leadership Manual and Fraternity Constitution and standing rules, represents the Tampa Bay Alumnae Chapter at International Convention and other regional alumnae events (or names a successor to do so).

Vice-President:  Presides over general and/or board meetings in the absence of the President, serves as IRD chair if no one is appointed to that position, is responsible for planning Alpha Gam Always, plans other chapter events as requested by the President or Alumnae Board,  

Treasurer:  Keeps an accurate accounting of the chapter books, prepares an annual budget that is presented to the board, maintains an accurate list of members who have paid support fees, sharing this information with the Editor and Permanent Secretary, submits all payments to the Fraternity and Foundation in a timely manner, files annual taxes and prepares the annual financial report.  Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel are necessary for someone taking this position

Secretary:  Attends all General and Board meetings and takes minutes at those meetings, keeps am accurate file of meeting minutes for future reference, keeps records of all chapter correspondence, maintains the Chapter Bylaws.  Basic computer skills,  knowledge of Word Processing software and an email account are necessary for someone taking this position 

Permanent Secretary:  Maintains chapter database of local alumnae, updating it when corrections are made.  Corresponds annually with IHQ to receive an updated list of local alumnae in the Tampa Area.  Corresponds with IHQ when sisters provide corrected contact information, serves on the Epsilon Pi committee.  Basic computer skills - especially a knowledge of excel - are necessary in this position.  Must have an email address and be familiar with My Alpha Gam.

Editor:   Responsible for Chapter Communications to include production and distribution of the Chapter Newsletters, social media accounts and web page.  Maintains the Chapters email database.  Responsible for submitting chapter news to the Quarterly for publication and sending out press releases to local media.

Only members who have paid their support fees to the Tampa Alumnae Chapter are allowed to make nominations or be nominated for office.
